This DVD series, plus facilitator's guide, is the application of almost 20 years of research and practice by Drs. Curwin and Mendler to the most challenging, disruptive situations in schools today. This video workshop demonstrates how to create a school climate that reverses the trends of anger, hostility, and aggressive behavior while helping youth acquire the values and skills they need to be successful.
These four, 20-minute DVD's, filmed in K-12 multicultural settings, demonstrate:
Prevention – Specific strategies for creating environments in which inappropriate behaviors rarely occur.
Intervention – A powerful six-step process for diffusing power struggles; five safe interventions when confronting aggressive groups of students; and strategies for handling situations both in and outside of the structured classroom (e.g. in hallways and cafeterias).
Positive Resolutions – A process for problem-solving and developing future plans with students, plus ways to reintegrate students back into the classroom that help ensure future success after a conflict. The role of the administrator in resolution is also addressed.
